“Confidence In Our Abilities” with Jane this Sunday at Minneapolis Insight

Dear Community,

Sunday 10am Community Practice & Discussion

(From Jane) Dear community members, greetings from the Southwest!  Exploring the high desert of Arizona over the last few weeks has offered me many opportunities to reflect upon and consider the teachings of the Buddha.  I look forward to being together on Sunday morning to share our various reflections on the Dharma and to practice together.

Jean’s comments in last week’s email have been especially poignant, encouraging me to reflect on how our minds so deeply influence our moment-to-moment experience and thus over time, our entire lives.

In reference to what Jean shared, I would like to offer a quote from “A Commentary on the Eight Verses of Mind Training” from The Dalai Lama.

“….we need to be humble, yet at the same time we need to be realistic about the good qualities that we possess. But we need to differentiate between confidence in our abilities and pride. We need to have confidence in whatever good qualities and skills we have and use them courageously, but without feeling arrogantly proud of them. Being humble does not mean feeling totally incompetent and helpless. Humility is cultivated as the opponent of pride, but we need to use whatever good qualities we have to the full.”

Please join us this Sunday for practice and connection. Registration and Zoom information available here.
