“Joy and Suffering” with Jane This Sunday at Minneapolis Insight

Dear Community,

The Dharma teaches us that we can transform our suffering into compassion and wisdom, opening us to joy, as well as suffering.  But sometimes, especially when things feel difficult or confusing, we cannot imagine being able to experience both happiness and suffering.

This Sunday, through the insights offered by various Buddhist teachers, and the experience of our fellow sangha members, we will explore how our practice helps us understand how suffering and joy are intricately intertwined in our lives.

Thich Nhat Hahn in his book No Mud, No Lotus expressed it like this:

Being able to enjoy happiness doesn’t require that we have zero suffering. In fact, the art of happiness is also the art of suffering well. When we learn to acknowledge, embrace, and understand our suffering, we suffer much less. Not only that, but we’re also able to go further and transform our suffering into understanding, compassion, and joy for ourselves and for others.

Please join us this Sunday. All are welcome! Registration and Zoom information available here.
